The Delhi High Court on Monday imposed a cost of Rs 1 lakh on a petition filed by NGO Prerna Ek Disha seeking the demolition of more than 40 buildings in South Delhi’s Deoli area.
A division bench of the High Court presided over by Chief Justice D.N. Patel and Justice Jasmeet Singh while dismissing the petition noted that the petitioner has not included the owners of the said buildings.
Imposing costs on the petitioner NGO, the bench said the PIL looks like litigation to blackmailing litigation. The court also noted that proving legality or illegality of a construction requires more stringent documents.
Earlier in the day, the court dismissed another such petition with a cost of Rs 25,000 on the petitioner. The said plea had alleged that there was some illegal construction going on in South Delhi.
The petitioner had relied on various photographs showing construction material lying on the roads.
